The words "vaginal herpes" strike fear in the heart of any gal. But before you freak out — or worse, push your fears under the rug — take a deep breath, get the facts, and get a herpes test

And in case you need reassurance that you are not the first person on the planet to be worried about having/potentially having vaginal herpes, check this out: ABC News recently reported that an “A-list” celebrity is being sued by a plaintiff who claims the celebrity didn’t disclose their STD status and passed on the vaginal herpes virus (also referred to as HSV2 or genital herpes).

Look, the herpes virus is common in the United States.  The herpes virus affects 1 out of every 6 Americans aged 14 to 49 years of age.  Further, genital herpes is more common in women than in men.  That’s a lot of people -- and no one, not even an A-list celebrity is immune. If you’re living with vaginal herpes or any other STD, the best policy is to be open and talk to your partners.  We know it’s not always the easiest conversation to have, but it’s important to have the STD test talk before things get steamy. Although there is no cure for vaginal herpes, treatment is available to reduce symptoms and decrease the risk of transmission to a partner.

Whether you’re a celebrity or an average Joe like us,  painless herpes testing can determine if you are positive for vaginal herpes (or any other STD). Knowledge is power, people!
