Get Tested & Treated for Bladder Infections
Many people experience the symptoms of bladder infection at some point in their lives or another. Symptoms of bladder infection can appear in men and women alike, though females are far more likely to suffer from bladder infection symptoms due to their physical makeup.
Often, symptoms of bladder infection will result from an actual bladder infection or UTI (urinary tract infection). It’s fairly common for women in particular to contract these types of infections following sexual intercourse. Sometimes, however, bladder infection symptoms will present when a sexually transmitted disease has been contracted. In fact, bladder infection symptoms will often mimic STD symptoms, making it difficult to determine the source of the problem in those who are sexually active without laboratory testing.
For some people, symptoms of bladder infection are fairly mild and may even go unnoticed, especially in those who tend to urinate frequently. For others, however, symptoms of bladder infection can be disruptive and intense.
Chlamydia is a widespread STD that can cause symptoms similar to those of a regular bladder infection. If symptoms of bladder infection are accompanied by heavy genital discharge, a common chlamydia symptom, then chlamydia testing should be performed to confirm or rule out infection.
Treating the symptoms of bladder infection is a matter of first identifying their cause. Antibiotics will typically be used to treat bladder infections as well sexually transmitted diseases like chlamydia, but each type of infection requires a very specific course of treatment. STD testing can therefore be instrumental in arriving at a proper diagnosis. Once the cause of bladder infection symptoms is determined, medication can be taken to cure infection and nip any associated symptoms in the bud.
