Possible Causes of Burning Ejaculation

Several conditions can cause a burning ejaculation. Here’s a few:

• Sexually transmitted diseases. Among various STDs, burning upon ejaculation (or after) is most likely symptom of trichomoniasis. However, chlamydia and gonorrhea can have similar symptoms.
• Orchitis, an inflamed testicle, is a complication of untreated STDs. This may also be caused by a bacterial infection.
• Epididymitis is inflammation of the epididymis, the tube that carries sperm from the testicle to the sperm duct. This is also a complication of STDs and can be caused by miscellaneous bacterial infections.

Diagnosing Cause of Burning Ejaculation

STD testing is the best way to diagnose the painful sensation of burning after ejaculation. STD testing and trichomoniasis testing is available through at-home STD testing kits, and the test is performed through a urine sample—no painful swabs involved. Results are available within just a few days.

If you are not at risk for STDs, talk to your doctor about other possible causes and testing options. Either way, do not engage in sexual activity until this problem is diagnosed.

Treating Burning Ejaculation

Most conditions that cause burning ejaculation are curable with antibiotics. Trichomoniasis is cured through the antibiotic metronidazole, whereas gonorrhea and chlamydia require other antibiotics. Orchitis and epididymitis are also treated with antibiotics.

Be sure to avoid any sexual contact until treatment is fully completed otherwise you may risk reinfecting your partner and transferring the STD back and forth. Also, to reduce your risk of contracting STDs like trichomoniasis in the future, use latex condoms and practice safe sex habits like mutual monogamy.
