Hepatitis B Test Information

Things to know before testing for hepatitis B

What type of hepatitis B test is used?

getSTDtested.com uses the hepatitis B surface antigen (HBaAg) with reflex confirmation. This highly sensitive test, recommended by our medical advisory board, can detect both acute and chronic hepatitis B infections.

Who should test for hepatitis B?

Hepatitis B testing is recommended for anyone who is sexually active and not vaccinated for this virus. Those at a higher risk for this virus include men who have sex with men, IV drug users, people with multiple partners and anyone who may have been exposed to hepatitis B.

What kind of sample is required?

This hepatitis B test requires a small blood sample which is obtained at a private, certified lab. Also, there is no special preparation required for this test.

When are results ready?

Results from a hepatitis B test are available, on average, within three business days.

What if my hepatitis B test is positive?

A free phone consultation from our in-house network of physicians is included with every purchase. If positive for hepatitis B, we recommend talking to our doctors to obtain medical advice and information about follow-up tests and treatment.

* ABOUT HIV TESTING
The HIV early detection test is a DNA-based test that can detect the virus as early as two weeks after possible exposure. However, our physician's recommend pairing the early detection test with the HIV Standard test, which is considered the "gold standard" in HIV screening. However, it may take up to 12 weeks for the HIV Standard test to provide accurate results. Repeat HIV testing is recommended for sexually active adults with multiple partners or concern of exposure.
