What type of test is there for Gonorrhea?
The actual test name for determining if Gonorrhea is present is called the Gonorrhea Nucleic Acid Amplification (NAAT) Test. This is a urine test that is based on amplification of the DNA that is present in Gonorrhea inferction. The urine test is simple and normally preferable to the traditional method that requires swabbing. This urine test for Gonorrhea s is currently the gold standard for testing and is widely used across the country in both doctor’s offices and hospitals.
Our Gonorrhea test requires a simple urine sample, given at either a local testing center or mailed back to our lab (if you choose to test from the privacy of your own home). The service center or home instructions will ask you to urinate (pee) in a cup and then transfer it into a tube containing a liquid that keeps the sample stable while transporting it to the lab where it is tested.
The only required preparation is to not urinate for at least one hour before giving your sample and don't clean around your urethra or it will remove traces of the infection.
Gonorrhea test results are usually available in 1-5 business days. After you purchase your test from us, you can choose to receive a phone call or email with your results.
