The actual test name for determining if Herpes 2 (Genital Herpes) is present is called the Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2 IgG (HerpeSelect®) Test. This specific test is the one recommended by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and looks for the antibodies that are specific to the Herpes Simplex 2 Virus (HSV-2).

This HSV-2 (Genital Herpes) Test requires a blood sample which will be drawn by a medical professional at local testing facility of your choosing.
