Wow, this site breaks it down in (painfully) plain language. We know there are about 19 million new cases of STDs in the U.S. each year, and half of them occur in people under age 25. As for teens, that breaks down to 10,000 teenagers getting an STD each and every day!
![]() 11 Facts About Teens and STIs | Do Something for more. This is a real call to action. Get tested. Talk to your kids (and if you're not ready to have kids yet, file it away to talk with 'em about 15 years down the road!). |

I became interested in this subject of STD education because I'm raising two grandchildren and want to know how to talk to them about these things. I am so glad there are places where I can go online and get information. We really need to find a way to get these young people to use condoms and to learn how to resist being pressured (by peers, partners, and the constant bombardment of sexual images) into sex.
It's hard to talk about sex with young people, but it's something we have to do. And we have to realize that as much as we don't want them to have sex (and I REALLY don't want my grandkids having sex!) simply saying "Don't do it" isn't good enough. |
