HIV in the porn industry

An adult film performer recently tested positive for HIV. At this point it is unclear how many people were subsequently exposed to and infected with HIV. Even with frequent testing, HIV is a constant threat to the porn industry. HIV/AIDS prevention advocates stress the need for mandatory condom use and stricter regulations, and an advisory panel is meeting Oct. 25 to discuss this issue. It will be interesting to see if tighter condom regulations will be imposed. We'll keep you posted!

I saw something about this in one of the newsletters I receive! It is an interesting to think about what regulators might do about this. You can see both sides of the issue: porn customers wouldn't like watching all the action with condoms, but you also have to think about the health of the actors who are, really, employees at work.

I understand there are means of digitally removing condoms so the final production doesn't show them.
