Default I'm not sure what to do...

Well, I need some advice/help. Three weeks ago I had an unprotected one night stand. I went to the STD clinic and got tested. I tested positive for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. The doctor put me on doxycycline. I have one more pill to take and my treatment is complete. But, starting last night my back started to hurt. I feel like I was in a car wreck it hurts so bad; it even hurts to walk. The thing is I haven't done any heavy lifting or physical activity. On top of my back killing me, my stomach hurts really badly. I thought that I would be fine since I'm pretty well done with the treatment. So, I guess my question is... are these symptoms related to the STDs? If so what should I do?

Thanks

Hi there,

It's difficult to speculate about the cause of symptoms, because there are probably a number of plausible explanations for what you describe.

It's best to be evaluated by your health care provider, and you might want to call first and see if you can chat with a nurse, describing what you're experiencing. Most cases of chlamydia and gonorrhea don't lead to symptoms like you're describing, but it's not unheard of. You can't rule out anything, though, and getting checked out by a professional is the only way to really know.

Good luck and check in to let us know how you are!

Vicky

You should most definitely talk to your doctor about these symptoms. They could be side effects of the medication you are on or possibly need to be re-tested in case the infection did not clear up properly. I would call your prescribing physician right away to make sure that the symptoms you are experiencing are nothing serious.
