Default What did you do?

When you found out you have an STD? I tested positive for chlamydia and got the results a couple of days ago. Since then I've just felt like crying.

Finding out your positive can be very overwhelming and upsetting, but remember, Chlamydia is very easily curable with simple antibiotics. You just need to see a doctor, show him your results and take your prescription in full, then it's gone and you can be sure to take measures to protect yourself in the future. It may seem awful, I know, but it's definitely better to know. Especially Chlamydia can often go untreated for many years and cause long-term health complications so try to remember that it's a good thing that you got tested and can get treatment and take care of your health. Though it may be stressful, give yourself credit because you did the smart, responsible thing by getting tested and now you can move forward. It may feel like there's no one to talk to or you just don't know what to do now, but we're here for you through the whole process. If you want to talk to someone who can help you through the next steps or even if you just need someone to vent your emotions to, you can call our helpline at 877-206-6915 and one of our counselors from the American Social Health Association will be more than happy to work everything out with you. Remember, the worst part is over and you can feel relieved that the infection you have is something that's actually extremely common and easily cured with simple antibiotics. I'm glad you came to our forum and I hope you know that this is definitely a place where you can talk about these things; we can certainly understand what you're going through and are happy to help you through it the best we can!

Hey Punkin sweetie,

Don't be too hard on yourself, 'cause you didn't do anything wrong. I read somewhere there are like 3 million cases of chlamydia in this country each year, and most anybody can be at risk. I totally agree with what the admin said about giving yourself credit for testing. So much smarter than not knowing.

You'll be alright kiddo!
