Ok, so I took the tests and was negative for everything except herpes 1 or whatever it is. My question is how often do you guys test, or think you want to test? I can be a little paranoid and compulsive about things, and I'm freaked about my health. I don't want to test too much, but I don't want to go too long either.
Appreciate hearing your thoughts about this. |

I like to test anytime I have a new partner (and I ask them to test, too). I'm 23 and female, so my nurse practitioner tests me for chlamydia each year. She says any sexually active female 25 and under should have at least that test. I think you're a guy (sorry if not!
) so that won't apply to you, of course.I think it's also a good idea to test if there's ever unprotected sex, or if you have sex with someone you really don't know. Everybody should have an HIV test at least once. Also, if you have any symptoms you're not sure about get them checked. Zelda |

Being "paranoid" about your health is not a bad thing! We do our best to eat right, exercise, avoid smoking and drugs and alcohol, and get regular check-ups with our physician, and our sexual health should be JUST as important to us as the rest!! Of course, you should always test anytime you have sex with a new partner (especially any unprotected sexual encounter) or have reason to be worried about a potential exposure. Otherwise, it's smart for all sexually active adults to do regular annual STD screening. Think of it like your personal "check-up." Even if you have no symptoms or are in a monogamous relationship, it's not a bad idea to just take a little time-out each year to restore your peace of mind and make sure you're fully healthy, sexually and otherwise!!
Good advice from all your forum friends, as well! Thanks, everyone!
